Doris Pedersen, of Leon Springs, Texas, passed away on Monday the 22rd of May, 2017 at the age of 89. Doris was born on March 24th, 1928 to Harry and Freida Brentano in Queens, New York. Doris attended a high school for the fine arts in Manhattan, New York, and the University at Trenton State in Trenton, New Jersey, where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education. She went on to receive Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Texas in San Antonio.
Shortly after high school, Doris married the love of her life, Robert H. Pedersen and together they raised 6 wonderful children. Doris and Robert resided in the New Jersey and Pennsylvania until 1977 when then moved to the Aum Sat Tat Ranch in San Antonio, Texas, which is the headquarters of the Concept Therapy Institute. Doris and Robert dedicated their free time to practicing and teaching Concept Therapy, and Doris remained a longtime resident where she made many lifelong friends. Doris was an amazing, caring and compelling woman who has touched many lives with her positive energy.
Doris dedicated her life to teaching emotionally disturbed children, both in Pennsylvania and Texas. She retired from the North Side Independent School district in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 65 then continued substitute teaching until the age of 79. Doris was beloved by her students, many of which contacted her after graduation to thank her for playing a major role in getting their lives on track.
Doris was a very loving mom, grandma and great grandma. She is survived by her six children, Robert, Nancy, Candy, Peter, Cindy, and Paul; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
