Doris Abraham Fontaine formerly of Bethlehem, PA passed away peacefully in Carson City, NV on February 17, 2020 at the age of 90 years old, surrounded closely by her family and loved ones.
Doris was born June 27,1929 in New York when her family immigrated in the early 1920’s, and grew up as a child during The Great Depression in the 1930’s. She met and married George Fontaine in 1949 after he had returned from serving our Country in WWII.
George and Doris lived and worked in Brooklyn, NY as newlyweds with their parents and many relatives, and had two sons while there. They then eventually moved, bought a house, and settled in Bethlehem in 1954 where shortly thereafter, Doris had a third son.
Doris and George lived and prospered together in Bethlehem in the house they originally bought for the next 46 years of their lives, where they raised their family. Doris belonged to many organizations in the Lehigh Valley community such as local scouts and little league, but her affiliation and involvement with congregation Brith Shalom was the most important. She enjoyed taking care of her children and grandchildren and being with her many friends during that time. She also worked part-time for many years in the local school cafeterias in Bethlehem.
After the passing of her husband in 2001 Doris relocated to Carson City, Nevada where she remained active and with family and her grandchildren and was very well loved and taken care of.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Viola Abraham, her loving husband of 52 years George Fontaine, and her son Michael Fontaine.
She is survived by her two sons; Jeffrey Fontaine (Sohyla) of Carson City, NV and Robert Fontaine (Kim Baber) of Canon City, CO, daughter-in-law Georgine Fontaine Sago (David), grandchildren; David, Kevin, Rachel, Maxwell, Madline and Ian and six great-grandchildren.
She will always be remembered as a very gentle, yet strong woman. She loved unconditionally everyone she met, never having a bad word to say about anyone or anything. She was a true matriarch and will be missed greatly by many.
