Dorina Vesa joined our Heavenly Father on February 8, 2022. She was a God loving lady, devoted wife and a loving mother.
Dorina was the firstborn of ten children to Simon and Viorica Toplean. She married in Hunedoara, Romania to Benjamin Vesa on March 30, 1978, where they moved to Deva, the state capital of Hunedoara, and had their first four children. In 1986, the family immigrated to America and arrived in Houston for about a year, then moved to Sacramento, California where four more children were born. In 2004, the Vesa family moved to San Antonio as one of the first Pentecostal families where their journey continued. Together with her husband raised her eight children to love God.
Dorina and family came to the United States in hopes of a better future for their loved ones. When Dorina sacrificed so much it was so her children could all be where we are today.
In the Vesa house, the kitchen was the central place.
Dorina had an open door policy to guests, be it family, friends or Church ministry members passing through. As kids, when mom said it’s time to put away toys and clean the house, the kids knew they had guests coming again.
She enjoyed attending Church regularly and had a love for her Church family as well.
As the oldest of ten, Dorina was blessed to have so many of her own brothers and sisters that cared and loved her all her life. They leaned on one another as loving brothers and sisters. Mom had a special and loving relationship with each and every brother and sister.
There are volumes worth of memories we had with mom as kids and as adults and many memories she had with her brothers and sister that we will all cherish a lifetime. We will grieve her loss, we will miss her but know this is not a permanent goodbye but will see her again in the Glory of God.
Her final chapters came on April 22, 2021 when Methodist Hospital diagnosed Stage 4 Cancer. Mom lived her final days like Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane in Luke 22:42, saying; “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours be done.” She felt inside her heart that it was God’s will to take her home. As difficult as it was for her and our family, she walked in faith, the path set before her.
A special thanks to Dad, Benjamin Vesa. He was faithful to care for mom till the end. In the long painful nights, He did more than most of us could possibly imagine.
A bittersweet regret that Dorina had towards her final months was no longer being able to attend Church. She missed seeing all of her church friends and family, hearing the pastor’s sermons, the music program, and the prayer program. Everyone in this Church was a blessing to her in one way or another. For that blessing, I’m grateful. May Dorina Vesa rest in peace.
Dorina is survived her husband, Benjamin Vesa; her children, Daniel and Vicky Vesa, Joseph and Claudia Vesa, Samuel and Elena Vesa, John and Jennifer Vesa, David and Bianca Vesa, Jonatan Vesa, Jacob Vesa, and Eduard Vesa; her siblings, Estera and Marcel Luca, Samuel and Dana Toplean, Leodicica (Dita) and Dorel Goga, Aurica (Ica) and Nelu Dunga, Petre (Pete) and Dana Toplean, Daniela and Dan Sav, Adina and Dan Toplean, Mircea and Adela Toplean, and Claudia and Somin Ghuira; and her grandchildren in Texas, Oregon and California who all called her “Buni”.
