Doran C. Lewis

Doran C. Lewis passed away peacefully in his home on Sept 12, 2016, just three weeks after his sweetheart Alice passed away on August 19. He is a devoted husband to Alice B. Lewis, who predeceased him and father to Glenna Lee Lewis, Marsha Anne Lewis Edman and husband Jamie Edman, Ronald Doran Lewis and wife Debrah Lewis, Deon Paul Lewis and wife Daynia Lewis, and David C. Lewis, his son who also predeceased him.

He has thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Our father and grandfather is a gentle man, a generous and faithful man. Because his family was his life and greatest joy he worked and planned and prayed for our happiness and safety. He loved taking care of our mother, and he loved providing for us, teaching us, serving us, and making memories with us.

Doran served in WWII as a B-29 tail gunner on Saipan. He retired after a career of 20 years from the United States Air Force. He loved his country and honored the men with whom he served.

We all have a story about when our dad fixed a toy, a bike, or car engine. Our dad and grandpa could fix anything!

One of his greatest joys was serving as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because it gave him the opportunity to really serve those who needed some love and a helping hand. In later years, Doran and Alice served in the Ogden Temple as ordinance workers. They also served as missionaries in the LDS Church Conference Center for many years.
