Doralee Vickers, 72, of Lakeside, Michigan died peacefully at her home, Saturday morning, October 23, 2010.Doralee was born on August 14, 1938 in Wheatfield, Indiana, and, after graduating from Wheatfield High School, she earned her degree at the South Bend College of Commerce. On January 20, 1961, she married James L. Vickers. They made their home in Lakeside, Michigan. Doralee co founded Vickers Engineering in Three Oaks with her husband, Jim. After Jim’s death on January 26, 1991 Doralee continued on at Vickers Engineering and retired after 33 years of service.

She was active in the Three Oaks Baseball Association and was a volunteer for the Harbor Country Emergency Food Pantry and Thrift Shop. She enjoyed gardening, was a caring daughter, and loyal friend. She adored children and they couldn’t help but adore her too. Doralee dedicated her life to her family and looked forward to preparing dinners every Sunday for them at her home.

She is survived by her sons, James (Kelly) Vickers of Harbert, Michigan; Jon (Jennifer) Vickers of Bloomington, Indiana and Jeffrey (DeeDee) Vickers of Saugatuck, Michigan; grandchildren, Max, Frankie, Ava, Sam, Ashley (Leon) Mattheys, Jake Anstey and Josh Anstey; great grandchildren, Bailey and Tyler; and her brother, Rick (Leona) Boezeman of Las Vegas, Nevada.In addition to her husband, Jim, she was preceded in death by her parents, Carol and Mildred Pinter.
