Dora Merritt passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 at Transitions Life in Raleigh, NC.

Dora Ann Merritt, 64, was born August 22, 1956 in Sampson County to the late Walter Junior Mainor and Lois Bryant Mainor.  She grew up in the Taylor-Bridge township and graduated from Union High School in Clinton, North Carolina.

She joined Little Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church at a young age.  After moving to Dunn, North Carolina she attended Mt. Carmel PFWB and Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.  She was a homemaker who loved to cook and was lovingly known in her later years as the “Grill Master” because she enjoyed cooking on the grill at every opportunity.

Dora Merritt (Eurie C. Merritt) were joined in matrimony on February 14, 2007 who proceeded her in death.

Homegoing services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton with burial following in the Merritt Cemetery in Magnolia.

Dora leaves to cherish precious memories one daughter Yolanda Mainor of Charlotte, NC, one granddaughter Tiana Watson of Charlotte, NC, and three great-granddaughters Mariah, Jaylie, and Zayla all of Charlotte, NC.  One brother Walter James Mainor of Dunn, NC.  Then two aunts Hazel Bryant (George deceased) of Dunn, NC, and Margret Hooks (Donnie deceased) of Clinton, NC.  A cousin who was like a sister and a devoted caregiver for Dora, Glenda Beard of Dunn, NC. And a host of cousins, family, and friends.
