Mrs. Dora Louise Strong, 77, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, November 6, 2013. She was born December 30, 1935 in Sontag, Mississippi, to Cleveland and Isadora (Jaynes) Alexander, the seventh of their ten children.She married Jimmie Strong on September 18, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2011.

She was also preceded by her parents; one sister, Clara Rhodes; and two brothers, Ola Alexander and George Cleveland Alexander.Ms. Dora enjoyed hosting and attending family gatherings. She had a passion for caring for people, and enjoyed gardening. She loved traveling with her friends, Ms. Ruth, Ms. Margaret, and Ms. Adrienne. She loved singing, whether in the church choir or at home. Ms. Dora will be remembered fondly for bossing anybody and everybody around…in love, of course.

Family and friends will greatly miss Mrs. Strong. She is survived by and leaves to mourn her five daughters, Lola O’Neal of Chicago, IL, Connie Moore of Gainesville, VA, Threasa (Glen) Hawkins of Kalamazoo, MI, Mechele Strong of Jonesboro, GA, Phellicia Sorsby of Waldorf, MD; and two sons, Phillip Strong of Chicago, IL, and Roderick Strong of Philadelphia, PA. She was abundantly blessed with seventeen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She will be missed by her three sisters, Verna (Sims) McGee of Terry, MS, Josephine (James) McGee of Glenwood, IL, Ethel (Elester) Ellis of Chicago, IL; and her three brothers, Rochelle (Clarisse) Alexander of Oak Park, IL, Gene (Jessie) Alexander of Sontag, MS, James (Eloise) Alexander of Jackson, MS; and an abundance of sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
