Dora Belle Henderson

 

On August 17, 1937, Dora Belle Henderson was born to Jesse Bell Hunter Henderson and Theodore Henderson in Onslow County, North Carolina. 

 

As a child, Dora raised by her Aunt Bettie and Uncle Fred Newel.

Uncle Fred was a train conductor, and because he traveled, Dora and her eight siblings spent the winters in New York City and the summers in Jacksonville, North Carolina farming the land. In her late teens, she went to school to focus on Math and Business.  After she completed school Dora became a License cashier and Key punch operator.  Later on in life, she worked in home health care and then became the General Manager of the Pueblo Goodwill Downtown and Lingerie Manager for Sears.

 

Dora met the love of her life, Russell Creighton, in 1953 at Camp Lejune, North Carolina. He was in the Navy.   Soon after they met, Russell was convinced Dora was the woman he was going to marry. After a short courtship, they tied the knot on May 25, 1954.  Their union was blessed with five lovely children, Saadia, Steven, Stefan, Sandra, and Sharon.

 

 

 

Dora Belle Creighton departed this life July 29, 2020.  She is proceeded in death by her husband Russell Creighton, Parents, five brothers, Gurney, Ray, Charlie, Jr. and Richard and, her two sisters Margaret, Pearl, as well as, and granddaughter Radinka.  She is survived by her loving sister Ella Christmas and family from Jacksonville, North Carolina.

 

She leaves to cherish her memory her five children and their spouses Tammie, Michael and partner Tina.  Ten Grandchildren and spouses: Andrew II & Alicia, Isaiah & Wandelka, Roseanna, Selena & Andre, Elisha, Bryson & Anna, Dustin, Russell, Steftyn and Teashtyn. along with nineteen Great Grandchildren: Andrew III, Emerald, Cynsere, Briann, Lauren, Eunique, Kayla Saadia, Ciara, Jazmine, Andriana, Andre II, Jeremiah, Nayelli, Matayah, Hezekiah, Zendaya, Zariyah, Neillah
