Donneda A. (Obert) McDaniel, 88, of Jacksonville, IL died January 9, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born August 9, 1926 in Jacksonville, the daughter of Miller and Edna M. Watson Obert. She married Urban S. McDaniel on July 17, 1949 in Chapin, IL and he preceded her in death on August 24, 2010.
She is survived by three children, Bari Lynne Morrison (husband, Richard) of Omaha, NE, Barbara Paterson (husband, Daniel) of Ridge, MD, and Bruce McDaniel (wife, Jacquie) of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Sean Morrison (Alexia), Jarrod Morrison (Teresa), Jason McDaniel (Arlen), Scot Paterson (Kari) and Amy Paterson Doore (Sarah); three great grandchildren, Audra Morrison, Jahslen McDaniel-Rodriguez, and Jahzet McDaniel-Rodriguez; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Nathan Morrison; and her twin brother, Donald Obert.
Donneda was a 1944 graduate of Chapin High School and a 1948 graduate of Western Illinois University. She also later received a master’s degree from Illinois Wesleyan University.
She taught District 117 students for over 28 years at Jonathan Turner Junior High School. She was a long-time member of Central Christian Church in Jacksonville where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years, served as an elder emeritus, and was a member of the Loyal Partners Class. Along with her husband and family, Donneda hosted a foreign exchange student, Seppo Lampinen of Helsinki, Finland, during 1970-71 and considered him a member of her family.
