Donna Newcomb Stoess of Louisville passed peacefully May 13 surrounded by all of her loving children as her soul was gently lifted to heaven.
Born in Campbellsville, in 1934 to Mabel and Nathan Newcomb. She grew up there until Mabel (Bobie)moved to Louisville when she was in her teens.
Donna lived her life for her children, grandchildren, and her husband. She was the matriarch, the great protector, the backbone of the family, and loved each family member fiercely.

An honor student, Donna graduated a year early from Atherton High School. Soon after, she met the love of her life, Ray (Sonny) Stoess. They married before her husband, a proud marine, left to serve his country during The Korean War.

She was always right behind her husband at every turn in their adventurous life. She helped him bring back from shambles The Kentucky Sheriffs Boys and Girls Ranch, where each week in the summer about 125 underprivileged kids from every county in Kentucky came to enjoy camp for a week. She was often seen bringing clothes to some of the children who came with nothing to wear.
Determined to raise the 5 children they had with her morals, she continually preached her values to them. She spoke the truth always.

Donna attended every single sports event all of her kids were involved with, especially the swimmers in the family at Lakeside Swim Club.

Nothing made her happier than vacationing with the entire family at Seaside in Florida. The family spent many Thanksgiving Day holidays there.

An avid University of Kentucky fan, Donna never missed a game. She loved nothing better than having her kids around her cheering on The Cats.

Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Mitza Durham, her children, Pam (Phil) Robertson, Jan (Lowell) Stoess Allen, Sandy (Steve) Montgomery, Teri (Brad) Worthington, Ray (Desiree) Stoess, Jr., 14 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
