KNOXVILLE — Donna Shaw, 74, of Galesburg, formerly of Smithfield, died at 8:10 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2013at Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville.

She was born April 27, 1939 in Cuba IL, the fourth child of parents Dale and Lila Mae Hooper Henderson and was married to Johnny Melvin Shaw, Sr. on May 8, 1955.

Donna is survived by her son Johnny Melvin (Shearie) Shaw, Jr. of Lee’s Summit, MO; two daughters, Jana (John) Bridewater of Mission, KS and Jody (Keith) Douglass of East Galesburg; two brothers, Marvin (Hazel) Henderson of Smithfield, and Dale (Marilyn) Henderson of Urbana, OH; three sisters, Leigh Ann Dissman of Sebring, FL, Darlene (Kay) White of Marietta, and Doris (Larry) Weaver of Lewistown; four grandchildren, Amanda Douglass of East Galesburg, Kristen (Andy) Hicks of Troy, MO, Candace (J.D.) McRae of Iola, KS, and Gina (Adam) Martin of Knoxville as well as two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Shaw.

John and Donna started their business, Shaw Fertilizer, in the 1960’s, and the two of them also enjoyed farming together. Donna will be remembered for being a very loving mother, for the way she enjoyed square dancing, and her love of sewing.
