Donna Rae Miller, 81, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. Donna was born October 16, 1939, in Exira, IA, to John and Maxine (Mardesen) Sunberg. She married Russell Miller on August 7, 1960, in Audubon. They lived in Audubon, Ankeny, and Tonica, IL, before returning to Grimes in 2002 when Russ retired.
Donna’s life centered around her family, raising three children. Some of her favorite times were
spent with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed celebrating the holidays, cooking, baking, decorating her home, crafting, antiquing and listening to country music. Donna had a special fondness for dogs, especially her schnauzer, Toby.
Donna is survived by her husband of 61 years, Russell, her children, Jeff (LeAnn) Miller of Slater, IA, Janelle (Dean) Minor of Santa Maria, CA and Jill (Bill) Gonder of Norwalk, IA; nine grandchildren, Justin Miller, Zach Miller, Lindsey Hansen, Courtney Lynch, Kaitlin Gonder, Mason Gonder, Lindsey Ocker, Stephanie Harris, and Brandon Bice; 12 great-grandchildren, her brother, Dwayne (Pat) Sunberg of Audubon, IA, her brother-in-law Dennis (Betty) Miller of Audubon, IA and sister-in-law, Arlys (Thurm) Cardwell of Littleton, CO.
