Donna Rae Maynard passed away on September 6th, 2018 at the age of 78 in San Rafael, California. She was born Donna Rae Evans in Long Beach California to parents Ethelbel and Robert Evans on July 22, 1940. The family soon relocated to Seattle Washington.
Donna was sixteen when they moved to Kamiah, Idaho where her father owned the Kamiah Dairy with his brother Bill and his wife Carmen Evans. It was in Kamiah, while attending Kamiah High School, that Donna met the love of her life Glenn Maynard. Donna was head cheerleader and was on the drama team. Donna had just turned 17 when they married in July of 1957 and she spent 60 years happily married to Glenn. They were devoted to each other until Glenn passed away 14 months ago. Donna missed him terribly and her health deteriorated.
Glenn and Donna had three children while living in Idaho all before Donna reached the age of 21. The young family relocated to Burlington, Washington and then to Missoula, Montana where they built a home and owned and operated multiple businesses. Donna worked as a bookkeeper and office manager. Many years later Donna and Glenn moved back to Idaho and spent 35+ happy years retired at Slate Creek.
Donna enjoyed working in their vegetable garden and was an expert in the art of canning. Many happy years were spent living at Slate Creek near Glenn’s sister Georgene Wilkins, Laree Bass and her family and Glenn’s brother Jim. She loved entertaining family and friends at the outdoor “hippie kitchen”, next to the creek. Donna and Glenn traveled to California often to be with her daughter Terri and her husband Tom Cummings and granddaughter Ginger. They also traveled to Mexico on occasions. Donna was a happy person who enjoyed life and loved cooking, “getting all duded up”, going on camping and fishing trips and being with her husband and her family. She had a beautiful smile and always had a kind word for everyone.
