Donna M. Drerup, 87, Huntington passed away at 8:15 p.m. October 10, 2012 at River Terrace Estates, Bluffton, IN. Mrs. Drerup was born January 18, 1925 to Clifford and Thelma Evans Wynn in Huntington County.
Her parents preceded her in death. Donna married Anthony “”Bud”” Drerup on June 29, 1946. He preceded Donna in death on February 21, 2003. Mrs. Drerup attended Andrews School and Ferris State University in Michigan. She received her B.A. from Saint Francis College and a M.A. from Ball State University.
She received her Reading Specialist endorsement from St. Francis College and an Education Specialist degree in School Administration and Supervision from Ball State University. Donna was employed as an elementary teacher in Muskegon, Michigan. She taught at St. Mary School, Huntington Township, Horace Mann and Huntington North High School in Huntington. She was Director of Elementary Education for Huntington County Community Schools.
She also taught at St. Francis College and Huntington College.She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Mary Rosary Sodality, Open Door at St. Mary Church, Huntington County Retired Teachers, Indiana State Retired Teachers Association, and Little Turtle Reading Association. Donna is survived by two daughters: Constance (Steve) Bailey, Holland, Michigan and Delores (John) Roberts, Huntington; four grandchildren: Jennifer (Kevin) Campbell, Huntington, Mike (Katherine) Bailey, Carlsbad, CA, Lisa (Troy) Lephart, Muncie, Carolyn (Kraig) Borders, Elkhart, six great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Donna was preceded in death by a brother: Frank Wynn, sister: Marietta Hesting, three step-brothers: Leo Hesting, Richard Hesting, and Ray Hesting.
