Donna Jean Flesher, went to rest on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the age of 92. She was a loving mother, dedicated grandmother, adoring great-grand mother, and dear friend to many. Donna was born in Kalamazoo, MI on October 8, 1921, daughter of William C. and Vera M. Hobden Doering. After completing high school and attending college courses, she became employed at the Upjohn Company. On a fateful trip to hear the Fort Custer military brass band play, she met the love of her life, Guy Leon Flesher. They married on May 13, 1944. Together they moved around the country, most notably for a long stint in Spencer, WV. Eventually they found their way back to Kalamazoo and together helped organize the YMCA Southwest Athletic Organization of Oshtemo’s baseball program at what is now Flesher Field. The pride of her life was raising their three beautiful children.

After her husband’s death in 1971, Donna spent time her time working for the Stadium Drive Dry Cleaners, volunteering as a senior companion, and enjoying her passion and talents as an artist. She is survived by her daughters Cheryl Parnian of Reston, VA and Kara Bob Stewart of Kalamazoo, MI.; Sister Janet Frank Schroeder ; Grandchildren Bob Brenda Stewart, Nakiessa Parnian, Ryan Nicole Flesher, Eric Alyssa Stewart, Natasha Andrew Farms, Leslie Zach Strickland, and Sasha Adam Sesia; Great-grandchildren Isabelle, Karson, and Camden; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Donna was preceded in death by her husband; son William Flesher; daughter-in-law Penny Radke Flesher; and her close companion of many years Usif Soomro.
