Donna “Gail” Young Hockaday, 73, of Franklinton, passed away peacefully Friday morning, July 8, 2022 surrounded by her family at the William M. Dunlap Center for Caring.
Mrs. Hockaday was born in Franklin County to the late Albright & Josephine Horton Young on June 1, 1949. She was a long-time member of Brassfield Baptist Church and a member of the Brassfield Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. After 20 years of service, she retired from banking where she met numerous people.
Mrs. Hockaday is survived by her husband of 55 years, Clyde Hockaday; children, Ronda Hockaday Ward & husband Brian of Creedmoor and Greg Hockaday & wife Rose of Franklinton; grandchildren, Madison Ward of Creedmoor and Dylan Hockaday of Franklinton; sister, Debbie Duke & husband Mike of Spring Hope; mother-in-law, Mary Y. Hockaday of Creedmoor; sisters-in-law, Ann Young of Louisburg and Jeanette Perkins of Creedmoor; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby Young, Herbert Young, Sr. and Jeffrey Glenn; father-in-law, Lynwood O. Hockaday.
