Donna Eugenia Wheelwright Skudstad was born October 27, 1942, to Lorin and Ila Wheelwright in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was raised in a happy, music-filled home with two older sisters and one younger brother. She spent most of her life playing the piano and teaching many students. While in college, she learned to play the pedal harp beautifully. She graduated from the University of Utah with a Batchelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and enjoyed teaching kindergarten until she started her own family. At the U of U, she met her future husband, Donald Richard Skudstad. They were married in 1967 in the Salt Lake City Temple and had two children.
Donna enjoyed learning all her life. She always lived near a college or university because her father and her husband were both professors of higher education. She gave her time and funds in benefiting her family and friends and in pursuing her many hobbies and interests. She was a member of many organizations including the Music Teachers National Association, the American Harp Society, the International Society of Folk Harpers and Craftsmen, and the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts. She was also a member of the Klamath Chorale and the local quilt club and also square danced some with her husband.
Donna’s other hobbies included sewing, sculpting, and drawing. She learned how to sew as a girl while making doll clothes and advanced to making quilts and altering fancy wedding dresses by sewing on extra beads and sequins etc. She also learned to make tatted lace by hand.
Donna loved to serve and help others. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church callings including Ward Organist, Primary President, a Visiting Teacher, and other callings in the Relief Society. She also served, with her husband, as an ordinance worker at the Medford, Oregon Temple.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband Donald Richard Skudstad in 2013 (after 46 years of marriage) and her parents Lorin and Ila Wheelwright, and her two older sisters, Mona (& her husband Calvin) Lowe, and Sylvia Cundick.
Donna is survived by her younger brother Lynn (& his wife Melva) Wheelwright, and brother-in-law Bert Cundick, and her two children John Henry Skudstad and Bonnie Eugenia (& her husband Mark) Holmquist, and her grandchildren Daniel, John, Ammon, Rachel, Matthew, Joshua, and Jacob Holmquist. She will be buried beside her husband in the Brigham City Cemetery in Brigham City, Utah, near her parents and grandparents.
