Those left to honor Darlene’s memory are her daughter, Debbie J. Simmons of Newton; son, Robert M. McDaniel of Van, Texas; her 4 grandchildren, Matthew McDaniel, John McDaniel, Mike Anderson, and Amanda (and Jason) Ellingson; 4 great-grandchildren, Gauge Anderson, Caleb McDaniel, Grace Ellingson, and Elle Ellingson; her sister, Maxine Shutts of Montezuma, Iowa; 2 brothers, Robert (and Delores) Rebertus of St. Paul, Minnesota and Donald (and Barbara) Rebertus of Bloomington, Minnesota; her brother-in-law, Ray Reed of Colfax, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marion in 2001; daughter-in-law, Betty McDaniel; and her grandson, Michael McDaniel.
Darlene was a graduate of Pella High School in 1937 and attended Central College in Pella.
She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, collecting antiques, and being with her grandchildren.
