Rushton of Carriere, MS. Our hearts deeply mourn the loss of Donna Rushton, devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend to so many. She was always willing to give of her time and herself for earned her Bachelor degree at the University of Texas and Masters at LSU. Of all the different specialties of nursing, it was the opportunity to teach at the Pearl River Community College that gave her the most joy job satisfaction. Her son, Rob Rushton, said that she always enjoyed hearing from former students and how they transitioned from instruction into the world to help and care for others. Her daughter, Bethany Easterling said, “If I had to pick one thing that stands out in my mind about my mom, its not that of a story but more of a virtue of who she was. The most immediate and overwhelming thought of my memory is how the atmosphere surrounding her whenever I was in her presence felt of pure nurture and love; her ability to really see you and wrap you in that comfort. I think many other people also experienced this safe feeling when they were with her. And that will be so incredibly missed.” Her niece Erika noted that she always remembered the amazing dynamic between her and her husband, Bob. He had such the dry sense of humor and was so funny at telling stories. Donna would just roll her eyes and laugh. Erika cherished riding horses in the mountains of new Mexico, boat rides on Hide-A-Way lake, and most of all, Aunt Donna’s laugh. She was a member of Red Hat councils, and served on the Hide-A-Way Lake Board. She worshiped and served in several different churches both in Picayune and New Mexico and enjoyed many church activities, Bible studies, and developing close friendships of those who crossed her path. She loved to travel mostly to her second home in her beloved town of Ruidoso, New Mexico. She also traveled to such exotic locations as Alaska, Ireland, Scotland, Morroco, China, Thailand, Switzerland, Yogoslavia, Serbia, Greece, Italy, Panama Canal, Exuma, and Ephesus and went on many cruises with cherished friends.. May she Rest In Peace after walking through the gates into the Fathers’ arms…
