Donelda Bowen of Hebron, NE was born December 21, 1919 in Courtland, KS to Oscar and Alma(Wallin)Aspegren. She and her husband, Lester owned Hebron Floral in Hebron, NE. She departed this life Sunday June 12, 2011 at Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home in Hebron, NE at the age of 91 years.
Donelda was baptized in the Swedish Methodist church in Scandia, KS.
Donelda grew up in the Courtland area attending White Rock Country School where after the eighth grade had to take a test to get into high school, she then at tended three years of high school in Lovewell, KS, graduating from Courtland High in 1937. After high school she took jobs doing house work and taking care of children, and also helped during the canning season. She then worked for Floyd Sims, who owned the Belleville Greenhouse. That’s where she met Lester.
Donelda married Lester R. Bowen on January 20, 1940 in the evening at the Methodist Parsonage in Scandia, KS.
