Donald Wilson, 81 of Silver Ridge Park Westerly section of Berkeley Township, NJ passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. The world lost a kind, gentle soul after a long battle with leukemia. He was born in Newark, NJ lived in Irvington and Brick, NJ for 20 years before moving to Silver Ridge Park Westerly section of Berkeley Township in 1999.

Donald proudly served his country in the Navy as an Aircraft Mechanic. He was a Lieutenant with the Irvington Fire Department for 26 years retiring in 1992. After retiring, he was a Courier for the D’Onofrio family for 15 years. He was a member of the Retired Police and Fire Organization Local #8, the American Legion Post 348 in Brick, NJ and a life member of Am vets. He was an avid Golfer and had a love for horses and horse racing as well as a lifetime supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and he loved spending time in Atlantic City.

Donald was a loving father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family and fellow fire fighters, “HIS BROTHERS” He is predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years Claire (Cotte) Wilson in 2015, his father and his mother Clarence and Grace Courtney Wilson and his three brothers Edwin, David, and Robert. He is survived by his daughter Linda Ignomirello and her husband Nicholas of Beachwood, NJ, his sister Grace Errico and her husband Joseph of North Carolina his grandchildren Jessalyn and Donald Cleaver III and Kelsi Ignomirello, great grandchildren and (best pal) Addison Claire and Donald Cleaver IV, his rescue dog Norton and his step grandchildren Calvin Miller and Samantha Benson.
