Donald Wayne Taylor, age 81, Anderson, IN went home to be with the Lord on February 2, 2017 following an extended illness. Don was born on July 23, 1935, a lifelong resident of Madison County; married his high school sweetheart Carole Mozelle Ellingwood Taylor who preceded him in death. He leaves behind a son, Bob (Debbie) Taylor of Anderson and a daughter, Trina (Paul) Prewett of Prescott Valley, AZ; his sister, Doris Anderson of Noblesville, IN and a brother Bud (Blanche) Taylor of Greenwood, IN. He was proud of his seven grandchildren Collin (Audrey) Taylor, Blaine (Justin) Barnhart, Trista (Eli) Marshall, Stacy (Erik) Smith, Chris (Sarah) Drinkut, Kevin (Dawn) Cassidy, Krissy (Jordan) Dulaney and 10 great grandchildren.
Family members preceding him in death include his daughter Debbie Taylor Riley and both parents, Ward and Alta Taylor.
Don retired on May 9, 1989 after 20 years of service on the Anderson Fire Department. He was an entrepreneur and operated his own business as a licensed real estate broker and appraiser for many years. He also owned a local fire equipment business servicing residential and commercial fire extinguishing equipment. He spent much of his lifetime buying and selling stocks and investment properties. Don and his wife enjoyed following the NASCAR circuit traveling throughout the United States. Later he found great pleasure in ballroom dancing.
Don was deeply loved and his family is so very grateful for the love and care provided by his caregivers from The Legacy at Bethany Pointe and Heartland Hospice.
