Donald W. Farden, passed away early Saturday morning, July 13, 2019 at his home with family by his side at the age of 59. Don succumbed to his end stage kidney failure and other complications from diabetes.
He was born June 29, 1960 to Donald C. Farden and Patsy C. St.Clair Farden. They survive. Don married Tina (Hogan) Farden in 1981. They had one child and later divorced in 1989.
He is also survived by his daughter, Janell (Branden) Burke, his brother Russell (Peggy) Farden, and sister Rhonda (Farden) Carlson. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews: Holly, Jeremy (Cindy), Jason (Stephanie), Jen, Becca, Cameron and Kaitlyn. He is also survived by many great nephews, nieces and grandpups. He was preceded in death by his brother Randy Farden in 2018.
Don was born at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria Illinois. He lived in Sunnyland where he attended the District 50 schools. He then went on to Beverly Manor Jr High School, followed by Washington Community High School, later graduating from Averyville Christian Academy in 1978.
As a young man, he enjoyed his membership of the Peoria Police Explorers known by his handle, “Weedhopper”. He was an avid bowler even bowling on leagues for a couple of seasons. Having been an electrician, he was interested in electronics and always interested in cutting edge consumer gadgets.
Don later lived in Westville IL for many years where he was a member of the Westville Fire and Rescue Department. He was a trained weather spotter and served as part of the Civil Defense and the Red Cross, and worked at Westville Gas and Water for the Village of Westville.
Don was also a handy electrician and worked for Entercom Engineering in Peoria early on then later at Grubb electrical while he was a Westville resident.
He was always willing to lend a hand to help others.
Later in life, Don moved to Morton and drove for Peoria Charter Coach where he loved driving across country for large tour groups. He was proud to boast about never having had an accident while behind the wheel.
He had a love for Batman and was known as “Bat Don” to most. He loved his cat, Bat Cat, and enjoyed listening to his scanner that remained on at all times. He had a great sense of humor and really loved his family and friends. He will be missed immensely.
