Donald W. Cousens, 79 of Berkeley Township passed from this life on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. Donald was born on February 24, 1941 in Albany, New York to the late George and Ruth (Lenora) Cousens. He was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, great-grandfather and mentor to many. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as an Army Security Agent. He faithfully attended Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Manchester, where he was an elder and active member. He was a devout Missouri Synod Lutheran and taught Confirmation Class for many years.
Donald began the Mat Rat Wrestling Program in Old Bridge. He coached and inspired hundreds of wrestlers and enjoyed following all their competitions and the paths they had chosen.
Donald additionally served his community teaching children, seniors, and special needs individuals how to paint. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Donald is predeceased by his parents, George Cousens and Ruth (Lenora) Quackenbush Cousens.
Donald is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Smith Cousens; sons, Keith Cousens and his wife Rachael of Beachwood; Bryan Cousens and his wife Kristy of Dover, Delaware; brother, Robert Cousens and his wife Jackie of Dover, Delaware; sister, Beverly Schueten of Hackettstown; 6 grandchildren, Valerie, Saharah, Emily, Ariana, Erik, and Kyle; and 1 great-grandchild, Aiden.
