Donald Louis Verdun July 6, 1930 to January 19, 2017
Donald Louis Verdun, avid fisherman, loved bowling, playing cards, cutting wood and most of all he loved his family. Don passed away on January 19, 2017 at the age of 86. He was loved by two amazing wives, JoAnn Borg Verdun who preceded him in death in 2001, and Umpai Kerfoot Verdun who is heartbroken by his passing.
Don was born and raised in Wood River, Illinois. He was the second eldest of four children. His sisters, Elaine Ruyle and Monica Bauer preceded him in death but his younger brother, Leroy Verdun still lives in the lovely home they were all raised in. After high school Don left Illinois and joined the Air Force immediately after his mother asked him when he was going to marry his sweetheart. During the years he served our country he trained to become a professional air traffic controller. He settled in Colorado Springs and stayed there to raise his 4 children, one of whom died shortly after birth. After retiring from the FAA he took a three year job in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, accompanied by JoAnn. When JoAnn passed Don was very lonely and met and fell in love with Umpai. They spent the last 12 years of his life together. Their home will full of love and people who loved them. He will be missed by his children, family and friends.
