He is survived by Rita Strube Thompson, his wife of 35 years; mother Toni Thompson of Gainsville, Fla.; sister-in-law Ada San Miguel; nephew Shane San Miguel; and niece Brandy San Miguel, all of California. His rich Southern heritage led him to his love of collecting Civil War history and memorabilia.
