Donald S. Daam, age 93, went home to be with his Lord on September 13, 2020. Donald was born June 12, 1927 in Kalamazoo, the son of William and Florence (VanHaften) Daam. He was a 1945 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School where he lettered in Basketball and Tennis. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1946. Returning from the service, Donald worked for his father at Midway Auto Supply from 1946 until 1961 when he went into a partnership with his brother. In 1970 he went to work in the printing department with The Upjohn Company until his retirement in 1989.

Donald was a long-time member of Calvary Bible Church. Music was very important part of his life. He had a beautiful tenor voice and sang solo’s for over 50 years in various church services, weddings and funerals.

In 1948, he was united in marriage to Marlyn (Kuempel) Daam, who preceded him in death in 1987. He was also preceded in death by his parents and siblings: William Daam, Marian Winne, Beatrice Carlson.

In 1988, he was united in marriage to Lois (Bair) Boven Daam, who survives. Also surviving are 7 children: Gordon (Denise) Daam, Rick (Penny) Daam, Jack (Debra) Daam, Ben (Brenda) Daam, Debra (Nick) Lam, Brenda (Bill) Stoneburner, Jeff (Kim) Boven; 21 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
