Dr. Donald S. Kranov, 92, of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Pleasant View.
Donald was born on March 3, 1921 in Walnut, IL to Arthur S. and Ida Mae(Ethridge) Kranov. He married Helen M. Gurley on December 24, 1944. They were married sixty-two years. Helen passed away September 24, 2007. He attended Illinois Wesleyan University and Loyola Dental School in Chicago. He practiced dentistry in Ottawa for over thirty years and after retirement volunteered at the hospital and enjoyed golfing, bridge and yard work.
He was a longtime member of Deer Park Country Club, a Rotarian and the local Elks Lodge. He always loved to be with his family and enjoyed any family activity especially a round of golf. He was very proud of his military service having served two tours of duty in the United States Navy. His warmth, compassion and smile will be sadly missed. He is survived by one son, Jon (Renee) Kranov of Ottawa, IL, two grandchildren Shane (Leonore) Kranov of Elmhurst, IL and Karissa (Nicholas) Naas of Dayton, OH and five great grandchildren Sebastian, Tatiana, Christian, Seraphina and Finley. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen in 2007 and one son Donald S. (Stan) Kranov, Jr in 1967.
