Donald Rutz, age 79, of Livermore died on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Donald John Rutz, the son of Harry J. and Florence (Hohenberger) Rutz, was born on May 2, 1935 in Livermore, Iowa. He graduated from Livermore High School in 1953. On May 24, 1959 Don was united in marriage with Audrey Jane Benjamin at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rutland. Don farmed, was a seed corn dealer for over 40 years and raised cattle from 1954-97. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served on the Church Board.
He also enjoyed serving as a 4H Leader, member of the Twin Rivers Booster Club, Beef Producers Board and the Humboldt County Fair Board. Left to cherish Don’s memory is his wife of 55 years, Audrey; three sons, Jeff Rutz of Livermore, Rev. John (Julie) Rutz of Hasting and Joel (Susan) Rutz of Humboldt; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Norman (Sue) Rutz of Overland Park, KS; and three sisters, Karen Jacobsen of Rochester, MN, Helen (Dennis) Knutson of Manchester and Linn DeWinter of Humboldt. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Audrey Mae Christensen; and a brother, Vernon Rutz.
