Donald “Rosie” Brooks

January 31, 1937 – April 4, 2020

 

Donald W. “Rosie” Brooks, age 83, Of East End, Arkansas passed away suddenly on April 4 at his home. He was the son of the late Pete and Clara Brooks and was born January 31, 1937 in Sweet Home, AR.   He was married to Marilyn L. Brooks, for 60 years before her passing May 31, 2018.   He was a graduate of Fuller High School in 1954.

Don was a retired registered Land Surveyor(#5) and the owner of Brooks & Curry and Donald W. Brooks, Inc.   He was a member of the Arkansas Softball Hall of Fame after playing for years with Goff Plumbing. He was a member of East Union Missionary Baptist and was a deacon.   He loved all sports, working the crossword puzzle and reading Westerns but really loved sitting and talking to people, especially every morning at The East End Café. He rarely met a stranger and would talk to anyone who was willing to listen him. Mostly, he loved his family, friends and especially his grandkids.   He was so proud of each grandkid, bragged about each one.

He is survived by his son, Donnie, daughter, Cherie Cole, son-in-law Craig Cole, grandchildren, Zac and Amy Cole and soon to be great granddaughter Harbour of Corpus Christi TX, Tyler Cole and his fiancée Megan Hopkins, Lauren (Brady) Cole and Christian Cole, all of East End, along with his sisters, Judy Martin, Delores Krisell and her husband Junior Krisell, all of East End, lots of nieces and nephews, former employees and dear friends that he had made over the years.   He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother, Pete and sisters, Jean, Betty and Ione.
