Donald Richard Sherman left this world for a much better place on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at his home. Don was born August 20, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to Alexander and Estelle Marie Rinebarger Sherman. He grew up in Long Beach, CA and graduated from David Starr Jordan High School where he proudly lettered in Track.
Don served in the Army during the Korean War for two years. He then moved to Ogden, Utah where he met Beverly Hurd McLain. They married in Evanston, Wyoming on February 2, 1957 and were later sealed in the Logan Temple, December 8, 1960.
As a member of the LDS Church, he served faithfully in various callings. His favorite calling was as a temple worker in the Ogden Temple. He served as a dedicated postal worker for over 30 years and found pride in serving his customers to the best of his ability. He also drove for Lakeshore Bus Lines driving tours across the country and into Canada. He had a wonderful sense of humor and found great joy in traveling in his trailer with his wife and close friends. Don had a love for and found joy in collecting Bald Eagle memorabilia.
Don left behind his beautiful and loving wife, Beverly, of almost 55 years; his 8 children, sons: Kirk (Jacque), Wayzata MN, Mark (Jonna) Syracuse UT, Steve (Tracie), River Falls WI, Shane, Nashotah, WI; daughters: Cari Pinkerton, Ogden UT, Debbie (Bob) Apperson, Fillmore UT, Shelly Tovey, Farr West UT, and Tawnia Beck, Hudson WI and his brother, Jim (Joan) Snyder. Don is also survived by 39 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren and many dear friends.
Preceded in death by his mother and father; sisters, Arlene and Dorene; step-father, Agnew Snyder and granddaughter, Heidi Apperson.
