Donald Raymond Hanus, the son of Donald H. and Marie (Kepler) Hanus, was born on January 22, 1949, in Webster City, Iowa, where he was raised and educated.
Don served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from August 1968 until his Honorable Discharge in August 1970. He was awarded a Purple Heart.
Don worked construction and took over Hanus Salvage Yard after his father’s death.
Don passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Eldora Specialty Care in Eldora, at the age of 73 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Harold and Vera Kepler and August and Ethel Hanus; brother, Ronald Hanus; nephew, Ronald Hanus, Jr. and sister-in-law, Carole Hanus.
Don is survived by his daughter, Angela Hanus of Hampton; son, Donnie Frye of Madison, WI; grandson, Brody Frye of Madison, WI; brother, Mike Hanus of Eagle Grove; sister, Rita Hanus of Eagle Grove; aunt, Charlotte Johnson of Webster City and many nieces and nephews.
