Donald R. Welter, 91, of Anderson, passed away on November 9, 2013 at Bethany Pointe Health Campus.
He was born on March 29, 1922 in Sandusky, Ohio and resided most of his life in Anderson. He served his country in the Army during WWII from 1942, to 1945 in the Field Artillery. His service took him from England, to France, Luxembourg, and Germany. He served in Patton’s 3rd Army from August of 1944, to January of 1945. From 1948 to 1959, he was a Captain in the Indiana National Guard, and received the Long Term Service Award. He retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors after 33 years of service, many of those years serving as Safety Director. He was a member of the Anderson Church of the Brethren, National Guard for 11 years, National Rifle Association, National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association, and the Anderson Rifle and Pistol Club. Donald is survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theora Welter, mother, Lillian Gladys Welter, and his father, Whitelaw Reid Welter. Special Thanks to; Primrose Retirement Community, Bethany Pointe, Heartland Hospice, and to Dr. Robert Anderson for their love and care for Don.
