Donald R. Stoops, 81, Markleville, died November 4, 2010 at St. Johns Health System, Anderson Indiana after a brief illness.
He was born September 29, 1929 in Elwood, and lived most of his life in this area. He retired from the United States Army after serving 21 years during the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. He was a major for the Madison County Sheriff’s Dept. under John Gunter and also retired from Stoops Express after 10 yrs. of service. He was a member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church. He “lived to play golf”.
Survivors include his wife of 24 1/2 years, Teresa Pring Stoops; children from first marriage, Donald Stoops of Gainsville, GA, Resa Harold Johns of Florida & Steve Stoops; siblings, Margaret Jim Carlisle of Anderson and David Cathy Stoops of Noblesville; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Stoops and Marguerite Stoops, both of Anderson; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William O. & Bertha V. Walsh Stoops; brothers, Robert Stoops and William “Bill” Stoops, Jr; and sister, Ruth Stoops.
