Donald R. Sons 77, of Tonica, passed away at 4:20 a.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2009, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital. Mr. Sons was born March 13, 1932, in Tonica to Ira Jack and Mary Violet (Porter) Sons.
He married Joyce C. Sherk on December 1, 1951, at County Line Church, Peru with Rev. Johnson officiating. Don was a foreman for the Illinois Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Tonica United Methodist Church, Tonica Masonic Lodge, and Tonica Oddfellows Lodge.
He is survived by his wife Joyce, of Tonica, two sons, Gregory T. Sons of Mark and Ronald R. (Lisa) Sons of Tonica; 2 grandsons; and one granddaughter.
He is preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Memorials may be directed to the Tonica Ambulance Department or to Illinois Valley Hospice.
