Pond, Donald Earl (Mr. Donald E. Pond) passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at the age of 88. He loved his Lord and his family greatly. He was a proud World War II Navy Veteran who served as a Petty Officer on the warship USS Newman K. Perry Destroyer. He was in charge of the ship’s munitions for the forward gun turrets during many Japanese engagements in the Philippines. He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Farmer of Chattanooga Tennessee, his brother Jack Pond of Birmingham, Alabama, his daughter, Donna Pond of Largo, Florida, his son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Vickie Pond of Atlanta, Georgia. He was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Monica Morris, Carrie Clark, Phil Pond (Nim), John David Pond (Julie), Stephen Pond (Lindsey), and 1 great grandchild, Michael. He is also survived by many very loved nieces and nephews. Agnes Pond, his wife of 58 years, preceded him in death by exactly 3 months. He was also preceded in death by his sister Mary Edna Armstrong, his brothers George Pond and Doyle Pond.
