Donald P. Knechel, age 85, of Quakertown, passed away on December 6, 2021, at the Lutheran Community at Telford. Born on November 9, 1936, he was a son of the late Paul and Mabel (Walp) Knechel.
Donald was a long-time member of East Swamp Church and coached the men’s basketball team. He worked at W. M. Moyer Co, and Landis Meat Co for many years. He was elected tax collector in both Milford Township and Quakertown borough. He was happy to serve his community for 32 years.
Donald was such a jovial individual. He knew how to light up a room and make people laugh and smile. He enjoyed playing tennis, baseball, basketball, cards, and loved trains. The beach was one of his favorite places, his family would take yearly trips to their shore house. He also enjoyed camping out west, in the New England states and Florida.
Surviving are his daughters, Debbie Monts (Chuck) and Wendy Bradshaw (Scott), grandchildren, Meagan, Kelsey, Courtney, Zachary, Kelly, Chelsea, Lauren, Josh and Daniel, great grandchildren, Judah, Lydia, Nora, Zion, Caleb, Kendra, Noah, Isla, Luke and Silas, his beloved sister Gloria Kern, daughter-in-law Rinnie Knechel Shoup and nieces and nephew, Barbara, Beth and Brett. He was predeceased by son Kent Knechel.
