Colonel Donald Murray Robertson, 84 of Satellite Beach, FL began his final journey from this life on Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Holmes Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Don, also known as Robby, Garibaldi, and the Candy Man was born March 7, 1930 in Brattleboro, Vermont. He was the son of the late Edgar Silas and Esther Gustafson Robertson. Don was a graduate of Worcester Prep School and Norwich University. Upon graduation he received his commission in the US Army and reported for duty to Ft. Knox, KY.
Don is survived by his wife, Myra Sue Thompson Robertson; his children, Steven “Bones” Robertson of Annandale, VA; Catherine Robertson of Dallas, TX; Aaron Crace and Ashley Crace (Matt Glockner); both of Lexington, KY; his sister Barbara Loney McGee of Ft. Meyers, FL; his Goddaughter, Dr. Christina Ching, Nashville, TN; along with many wonderful friends and extended family. Don’s first wife, Mary Mamrosh Robertson died in 1987.
Don served in both the Korean Conflict and Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He was a tank commander and his unit was instrumental in winning the battle at Pork Chop Hill in Korea.
