Donald Lee Winslow, 75 of Nampa was born in Hanford , CA November 30, 1940 to Estle Robison Winslow and Walter Winslow. Don passed May 4, 2016 surrounded by his 5 girls. Growing up he migrated with his parents and siblings throughout the northwest, once going to 3 schools in one day, finally settling in the Caldwell area.

At 16, Don started working at the Nyssa, OR Amalgamated Sugar Co. in the beet dumps moving up through the years with pride and ending his 36 year career as Head Dryer Mechanic.

While cruising Payette in his ’55 Pontiac he met a pretty young lady in a ’52 Plymouth burgundy convertible named Carolyn Lea Cochran, they married on January 27, 1962 on Canyon Hill and spent a wonderful  54 years together. In October 1963 the first of their 4 daughters, Tami Lea was born. Followed by Donna Kay in 1965. Brenda  Sue in 1966. Still trying for a boy they ended with Kelli Ann in 1970.

After Don retired he and Carolyn spent the next several years setting up toy and collectible booths in Sumpter, OR and Boise, which was just an excuse for Dad to hit more yard sales! Dad loved Star Trek and everything Disney, even naming our childhood pet Tinkerbell. Don loved to tinker around his shop and build anything. He was a jack of all trades and though not school educated he listened and learned and was not just a Dad but a friend to his daughters and extended family which many went to for help and advise. Don loved unconditionally. He was a man of his word and his strong handshake.

Don is survived by his beautiful sweetheart Carolyn, his daughters Tami (Wes) Blaser, Donna Winslow, Brenda (Scott) Pickrel, Kelli (Jerry) Wilson and fifth daughter Cath Gilbert. Grandchildren Dave Giller, Katie (Brock) Boster, Rachael (Zenon) Mata, Nicole (Ken) Barker, Kyle Wilson , Josh Pickrel and Papa Don’s Great-Granddaughter Maci Lea Barker. Stepsisters Betty (Gene) DeRock and Linda Roberts. Brother Gary (Terilee) Roberts.  Sister Kay (Karl) Warford. Many numerous nieces and nephews. Long time best friends Bruce and Pat Nelson. His two special furry kids Lady and Tripper.

Preceding in death, his mother Estle Lulu Gertrude Roberts. Father, Walter Winslow. Step-father Edmond Roberts. Sister Dorothy Rose. Brother Dinver Winslow. Step-brothers Lonnie Roberts and Kenneth Roberts. Step-sister Bonnie Smith.  Lots of buddies from the factory that became a part of our family.

Dad might not have been given the perfect life but he made a perfect life. Dad believed in paying it forward and tried to give what he could. His life was a story worthy of writing a book and we all have cherished his many life stories. So go out today and pay it forward for Don.

See you soon Dad. Give Aunt Della and Grandma a hug. Have fun fishing with Lloyd and Allen. Cannot wait to see all you have tinkered with in Heaven. In our hearts you live forever.
