Donald L. Bostic, 84 of Boise, formerly of Caldwell, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011, at an assisted living care center in Nampa.
Don was born August 17, 1926, to Ford and Bessie Bostic in New Plymouth, where he was reared and educated. Don graduated from New Plymouth High School in 1944, excelling in sports. Don married Ruth Makinson on June 18, 1948, at New Plymouth. Don and Ruth lived in New Plymouth and Baker, Oregon before moving to Caldwell where they resided until moving to Boise in 1969.
Don spent his entire working career in the printing and newspaper industry, working at the Caldwell News Tribune, Idaho Press Tribune, The Idaho Statesman, and retired in 1986 from Mountain States Press in Boise.
Dad loved playing golf and was known as “Ace” by his golfing buddies. Dad loved all sports and was a fan of local high school and college sports. Dad enjoyed photography and was an avid coin collector. He was a lifetime member of Caldwell Elks Lodge #1448.
Don is survived by two daughters, Donna and husband, Dale Lohrey of Caldwell and Brenda Story of Caldwell; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Jane Heady of McMinnville, OR; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Kim Hardy of Caldwell.
Don was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his sister, Lois; his brother, Harold; and a great-grandson.
The family wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the Staff at Streamside Assisted Living Center, who tenderly cared for our father during his stay.
