Donald L. Pickens, 75, of South Bend, passed away on Saturday January 23, 2021 in his home. He was born on December 20, 1945, in Peru, IN, to the late Ray and Marjorie (Cress) Pickens and was a life long area resident. He served his county in the United States Army, before being honorably discharged. On November 19, 1976 he married Mary Ann Hay, who survives. Also surviving are his three sons; Mark (Crystal Grubbs), Bryan and Christopher (Jamie Kyle) Pickens, all of South Bend; five grandchildren; Luke, Alexia, Kaycee, Kaylee and William; a sister, Susie Emerick; and two brothers; Earl and Gary Pickens, all of South Bend. Mr. Pickens retired from Honeywell on July 1, 2001, after 34 1/2 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #284 and the VFW Post # 1954. There will be a celebration of life at the American Legion Post #284 on Saturday February 6, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. for family and 2:00 p.m. for friends.
