Donald L. MacKnight, 86, of O’Fallon, IL, entered the church triumphant on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Lebanon Care Center in Lebanon, IL. Donald was born on April 3, 1929 in Lancaster, Massachusetts. At a young age, he joined the Army Air Corps, achieving the rank of Sgt. Afterwards, he was a flooring salesman and worked for Schwartz Furniture in O’Fallon, Carpet Mart, and Thompson’s Fuel & Oil.
He was also a member of the O’Fallon Sportsman’s Club, and enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, fixing up houses, and walking his dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Marguerite MacKnight (nee Casson); 2 brothers; George MacKnight and Robert MacKnight.
Donald is survived by his wife Dorothy MacKnight (nee Dallas), Sister in Law Edith Dallas, 2 children: Peggy (Gary) Moeller of Red Bud, IL & Ron MacKnight of Wright City, MO; brother Bill MacKnight of Riverside, RI; 6 grandchildren: Brian Moeller, Heather Fry, Nick Moeller, Kylie MacKnight, Jacob MacKnight, Danielle MacKnight, 5 great grandchildren: Corbin Moeller, Grace Moeller, Bristol MacKnight, Alyson Fry, Samantha Fry and many nieces & nephews.
