Donald L. Blevins, 85, of Ooltewah died Sunday, June 28, 2009 at his home. He was a prominent and well known independent grocer from 1946 – 1966 at which time he merged Don’s Food Basket with Red Food Stores. He served as President and Chairman of the Board of Red Food Stores until 1980. Mr. Blevins had been involved in major real estate transactions throughout the Chattanooga area. He had been active in many civic and community organizations including Former Chairman of the Chattanooga area Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Electric Power Board of Chattanooga, Director of First Federal Savings and Loan Association and Director of the Better Business Bureau.
