Donald Frank Keeling, 83, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017 at his home in Thatcher. He was a long-time resident of Silver City, but most recently resided in Thatcher, AZ.

Don was born on March 22, 134 in Washington County, PA to Walter and Frieda Keeling, the youngest of three children. He was raised mostly in Phoenix, AZ. He served his country honorably in the United States Army in Korea from 1953-1954. He was married to his sweetheart, Margery Hightower Keeling for 43 years. She preceded him in death two years ago.

Don will be remembered as an Indian Trader. He owned the Kiva in Silver City for many years and the Fort in Pinos Altos as well as many other stores in other locations. He enjoyed silver-smithing and could always be found in his workshop making something beautiful. Don was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Bishop in Lordsburg. He and his wife, Margery, served a mission in the Florida Tallahassee Mission in 1981-1982. Don was an outdoorsman. You would often find a sign on the door of his store, “Gone Fishin’”. He loved fishing and hunting with his grandsons.

Don is survived by four children, Dan Clark of St. George, UT, Nancy Cook of Silver City, Vicki Hamilton of Silver City and Marcy Blackwelder of Safford, AZ. He has 19 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren who love him dearly. Don was loved by all who knew him.
