Donald K. “Don” Bjorkland, 62, of Lydick, IN, passed away following a lengthy illness, at 7:53 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2022 in his home, with his loving wife Jackie by his side.
He was born on February 17, 1959 to the late Elmer “Bill” and Ruth (Bostedo) Bjorkland in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident.
Don graduated in 1979 from Washington High School in South Bend. He retired in 2009 from Steel Warehouse in South Bend, where he worked as a Heavy Machine Mechanic & Welder for several years.
On February 21, 2020 he married Jackie Zych in Lydick, IN. Don is survived by his wife, Jackie Zych of Lydick, IN; one daughter, Jessica Bjorkland of South Bend, IN; one son, Nick Bjorkland of South Bend, IN; one granddaughter, Chloe Bjorkland of South Bend, IN; a brother, Robert (Jean) Bjorkland of Mishawaka, IN; two nephews, Matthew (Angela) Bjorkland of Goshen, IN; Chris Bjorkland of Chicago, IL; two great nephews; and two great nieces.
Don enjoyed fishing, photography, and building bird houses. He held a special place in his heart for his dogs and all other animals, especially his cat Tanna.
