Don Ostopowicz was born on March 8, 1952 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He died on November 28, 2018 in Centennial, Colorado.
Don grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was a student-athlete at Messmer High School; and went on to complete his undergraduate degree in Education at Indiana State University. Don then achieved a Masters and PhD in Musicology. He played clarinet in the Milwaukee Symphony and enjoyed being a docent at the Frank Llyod Wright Home and Studio Foundation.
Following his early career as a high school band director, Don had a very successful career as an IT consultant for a variety of innovative projects in companies across diverse industries.
Don met his wife Joan in Chicago, IL in 1998 through work and they moved to Colorado soon after to pursue their love of the outdoors and fell in love with the beauty and mountains. They married in a lovely ceremony in Vail, Colorado surrounded by close family and friends in November of 2000. They expanded their family in 2003 when they adopted their daughter, Katya, from Russia. Don dedicated every day of his life to his family and their beloved dog, Koda.
Don was an avid biker, hiker and skier, but he was most well-known by his passion for creating wonderfully delicious, gourmet meals for his family and friends. He was incredibly skilled in the kitchen and truly loved entertaining.
Don is survived by his wife Joan Marwitz, his daughter Katya Ostopowicz and he was also a loving and caring uncle to many nieces and nephews.
