Don Jorgenson, age 96 of Algona, passed away on November 21, 2019 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Donald William Jorgenson, the son of George Martin and Karen Bertina (Ostrom) Jorgenson, was born on June 29, 1923 in Glenwood, Minnesota. He attended Marshall, Minnesota High School and graduated in 1941. Don then attended Iowa State University for 2 years. On February 26, 1943, Don enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served until March 26, 1946. Don was united in marriage to Ruth Diane Fauerby on July 1, 1949 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Don helped build the Alaskan Highway and worked for Armour and Co. and Witt sales as a Salesman. He retired in 1988. Don was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Algona, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Golden Kiwanis, Chip Off The Old Block, Over 50 Golf Tour Committee and the Seneca Saddle Club. He loved to enjoy the outdoors by horseback riding, fishing, hunting, camping, kayaking, and canoeing. Don loved all types of sports; golf, bicycle riding, skiing, sailing. He Sky Dived at 80 years old and waterskied at 82 years old. He was one to try everything. Don had such a zest for life. He loved people and was the department of fun. Left to cherish Don’s memory are his children, James (Donna) Jorgenson of Independence, Jean (Peter) Solac of Minneapolis, MN and Diane (Bob) Knigge of Council Bluffs; six grandchildren, Melissa, Daniel and Claire Knigge, Ryan and Kelsey Jorgenson and Shawna Knigge Beckstrom; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a great granddaughter, Mae Ruth Jorgenson; a brother, George Jorgenson and sister, Carol Sewell.
