Donald Jay Morton, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 20, 2008, after a courageous five year battle with cancer. Don was born on December 5, 1928 at the family home in Windham, Ohio. His parents were Clarence Howard & Lucy (Rittenhouse) Morton.
In 1956 he married Ruth Spelman and after a honeymoon in Glacier Park they returned to Windham where they built a home and raised their family. They lived there until 1994 when they moved to Kalispell, Montana to be with their children and grandchildren.
Don was a member and active participant of the Windham Bible Church C&MA in Windham, Ohio and Evergreen/Faith Alliance in Kalispell. He served as Elder, Board Member, Treasurer and did many other projects around the church.
One of Don’s greatest loves was cars. He built several from the bottom up and enjoyed keeping his VW’s running. He also helped his kids build their homes and did other wood working projects over the years. He also loved to travel. For many years he had his own business, “Morton’s Home and Gardens”, in which he installed carpet, ceramic tile and linoleum.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Lucy and an older sister who died in infancy.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth. Daughter Ramona and husband Randy Dutter. Son Keith Morton and wife Debbie (Dutter). Grandchildren Katie (Dutter) and husband Aaron DeVries, Luke Dutter and Andy Morton all of Kalispell. His sister Janet Morgan of Miamisburg, Ohio and cousin Richard (Dick) Knapp of Monroe Michigan. Along with many nieces and nephews.
