Donald J. Desautels, Sr., 90, of Berlin, beloved husband of Patricia (Mathieu) Desautels, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012. He was born in Hartford the son of the late Omer and Bertha (Roberts) Desautels and resided in Newington for many years prior to relocating to Berlin. Donald was a longtime Parkville resident and member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and its Drum Corps and Newington Senior Center. He was Past Treasurer of NARFE (National Assoc. Retired Federal Employees) and a member of the Postal Workers Golf League and OLS bowling League. He enjoyed playing all sports, with his competitive nature and was a devout Yankees fan. Don was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Before his retirement in 1984 he had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years. Besides his wife Patricia, he is survived by his beloved children Diane Lackner, of Hartford, Roberta Gline and her husband Douglas, of Harrisville, NH, Donald J. Desautels, Jr. and his wife Cheryl, of Niantic, Richard O. Desautels and his wife Barbara, of Candia, NH, and James E. Desautels and his wife Rosanne, of Enfield, ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
