Donald Hanson 87, of Irvington died June 21, 2013 at Fireside Nursing Home in Centralia.
Mr. Hanson was born on November 6, 1925 in Aurora, son of Herman & Clara (Trent) Hanson. He married Rose Jean Baer-White and she preceded him in death in 1961, he later married Doris Magdalen Theisen and she preceded him in death in 1993. Mr.
Hanson is survived by two sons, Steve Hanson of Chicago and Jerry Hanson of Winfield; three daughters Karen Glenn and husband David of Irvington, Laura Wright and husband Dan of Aurora, and Marsha Spurlock and husband Clay of Winfield; two sisters JoAnn Barry of Oswego, and Linda Hanson of Texas; one siter in law Lois Hanson; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Hanson was preceded in death by his parents, two wives; one brother Richard Hanson; one sister Doris Albrick; and one son Jeff Hanson and one daughter in law Barb Hanson; and one daughter Sherrill Jo.Mr. Hanson served in the US Army as a flight engineer. He worked for Walker Process in Aurora where he retired. He later went to work for Akeley Steele in Aurora. He loved to fly plans and skin-dive. He was a member of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) He even built his own single-engine plane from scratch and then flew it.
